Enter the Dragon (Blu-ray)
|
| | | "Blu-Ray Disc, Beyond High Definition." Features: DVD, Widescreen, Aspect Ratio 2.40:1, English, French, Spanish, Subtitled Over three decades following his untimely death, Bruce Lee remains the movies' supreme martial arts star. His masterful final film, Enter the Dragon, stands the test of time as the most beloved martial arts epic in film history. This box office hit takes Lee to the island fortress of criminal warlord Han, whose martial arts academy covers up opium smuggling and prostitution activities. To avenge the death of his sister, Lee infiltrates the stronghold and enters Han's brutal tournament-a breathtaking visual feast of competitions fusing skills in karate, judo, tae kwon do, tai chi chuan and hapkido, staged by Lee himself. What a kick! "A classic of its genre that must be seen by any self-respecting movie buff." Christopher Null, FilmCritic.com "Arguably the most entertaining, colorful and spectacular kung-fu movie ever made." Danny Peary, Guide for the Film Fanatic "...it's still great entertainment and remains a first-class action thriller in first-class style." John J. Puccio, DVD Town "Almost perfect Kung Fu film... " Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide "Spectacular fighting sequences..." VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever
Editor's Note
Bruce Lee was immortalized in his films as a martial arts master and first-class entertainer. ENTER THE DRAGON was the first martial arts film that American audiences had witnessed, and was actually produced in both Hong Kong and Hollywood. Interestingly, ENTER THE DRAGON also set the stage for non-traditional, culturally specific narratives to make their way into Hollywood.Bruce Lee plays a kung fu master recruited by a foreign government to infiltrate the island of a megalomaniac martial artist named Han. Han's bodyguard is also found to have killed Lee's sister, giving Lee a personal vendetta to fight for. The Hall of Mirrors sequence towards the end of the film is now famous, as are Lee's incredibly gymnastic martial arts abilities. This trend-setting film holds up as an entertaining, engaging action movie, more than 30 years later.
